Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2, 2026

Redible is an app for reading books in foreign languages with AI-powered contextual hints, narration, and a voice assistant. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it.

What We Collect

Account Information

When you sign up, we store your email address and authentication method (email/password, Google, or Apple Sign-In). We use this solely to identify your account and sync your data across devices.

Reading Preferences

We store your language settings (native and target language), proficiency level, and hint density preference. This lets us personalize hints, translations, and AI responses to your level.

Reading Progress

We save your reading position (which book, chapter, and sentence you're on) so you can pick up where you left off.

Hint Feedback

When you rate a hint (helpful/not helpful), we store that feedback to improve hint quality over time.

AI Assistant Usage

When you ask the AI assistant a question, a typed question or voice audio and the relevant book context are sent to our server and processed by third-party AI and speech-processing providers to understand the question and generate a response. We do not send your name, email address, Redible user ID, or other account identifiers to these providers.

While Hands-Free Mode is ready, iOS may display the microphone indicator, but microphone audio is not retained or transmitted until you start a question.

Voice audio is processed and temporarily retained by Redible in memory for the duration of the related Q&A session, including follow-up actions. When the session ends, Redible deletes the recording from its server memory and does not save it to its own databases, files, logs, or other permanent storage. Third-party AI and speech-processing providers process the audio under their own data-handling policies. Redible does not use voice audio for advertising or tracking. We retain account-linked service metadata — such as the number and type of requests, token counts, response length, and processing time — for usage limits and service operation. This metadata never contains the content of your custom questions, recordings, or personalized answers. Responses to built-in contextual questions (e.g., "What does this word mean here?") may be cached; they relate only to book content and are not associated with an individual user.

Subscription Data

If you subscribe to Redible Premium, your purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not have access to your card number or billing details — we only receive your subscription status, plan type, and transaction dates.

Analytics & Crash Reports

We collect account-linked usage events, such as opening a book, playing audio, reading progress, and feature interactions, to operate the service, understand how the app is used, and improve it. These events include the Redible user ID, session ID, action type, relevant product context, and timestamp. They are not used for advertising or cross-app tracking. Crash reports are collected automatically; account identifiers and user content are excluded, while technical app and device information needed to diagnose failures may be included.

Feedback & Feature Requests

If you send us a review, suggestion, or bug report through the app, we store your message along with your email address so we can follow up. This data is kept for as long as it remains relevant to improving the service.

Audio Downloads

When you download books for offline reading, audio files are stored locally on your device. We do not upload or access these files.

What We Do NOT Collect

Third-Party Services

To provide the app's functionality, we use trusted third-party services in the following categories:

These services operate under their own privacy policies and are subject to their own data handling practices. We only use service providers that are required to protect submitted data to the same or an equivalent standard described in this Privacy Policy.

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure. All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS encryption. Database access is protected by row-level security — you can only access your own data.

Data Retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, account-linked profile, progress, feedback, service metadata, and usage events are deleted. Aggregated or irreversibly de-identified statistics that can no longer be connected to your account may be retained.

Your Rights

Regardless of where you live, you can:

European Union / EEA (GDPR)

If you are in the EU/EEA, you have additional rights under GDPR, including the right to data portability, the right to restrict processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Our legal basis for processing your data is: contract performance (providing the service you signed up for), legitimate interest (analytics to improve the app), and consent (where applicable).

California (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request its deletion, and opt out of its sale. We do not sell your personal information.

Canada (PIPEDA)

If you are in Canada, you have the right to access your personal information, request corrections, and withdraw consent for non-essential data processing.

Children's Privacy

Redible is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email.
