Redible is an app for immersive reading and listening in foreign languages. Read on screen, with everything you expect from a good reader. Or start the audio and turn the screen off — hints, translations and AI help stay with you on a walk or at the gym.
Reading a book in a language you are still learning breaks constantly. A word stops you, you reach for a dictionary, and by the time you come back the sentence has gone cold. Do it often enough and the book gets abandoned somewhere around chapter three.
Listening is where the pull is strongest — walking the dog, on a treadmill, nothing else competing for your attention — and that is exactly why an interruption costs the most there. Every audiobook app assumes you already understand. The moment you don't, the only move is to stop the audio, take out the phone and look something up, which is the end of the walk you were listening through.
Redible is built so the help travels with you. Every sentence is narrated in a natural, expressive voice and synchronized with the text. When something doesn't land you get a hint sized to your level, the sentence in your own language, or an answer from an AI assistant you ask out loud — without stopping the audio and without leaving the book.
Redible is not a language course. There are no lessons, no streaks and no exercises; the content is books, and the learning happens because you understand what you are reading.
It is not a dictionary, a chatbot, or a generic text-to-speech reader either. The narration is produced for each book rather than generated on your phone as you scroll, and the support is tied to the sentence in front of you rather than to a search box.
You pick a book, and the app plays it sentence by sentence with the text highlighted in step. Auto mode watches how you are doing in that particular book and adjusts how often support appears, how much translation comes with it and how fast the narration runs. Turn Auto off and set everything by hand if you would rather drive.
Books are available in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish, and new ones are added regularly. Every book in the catalog comes with narration, hints, translations and AI support — the depth is per book, not a subset of the library.
Redible is available for iPhone and iPad. An Android version is in development. There is no upload feature: the library is prepared so that narration, hints and translations line up sentence by sentence, which is not something that can be done to an arbitrary file.
Redible is an independent project. If you have a question, a problem or a book you would like to see in the catalog, write to support@redible.co — the mail is read by the people who build the app.
