Narration and text, always in the same place

Press play and the sentence you're hearing is the sentence that's lit up. Look away for a paragraph, look back, and you haven't lost your place — the text moved with the audio. Every book in the library is narrated end to end in a natural, expressive voice, so listening is a way to read the book, not a summary of it.

The narration speed and the speed of the support voice are set separately. Slow the book down to catch a difficult chapter while explanations still come at full speed. Audio keeps playing in the background, and your place is saved across devices.

The question you'd ask if someone were reading to you

Something in the last paragraph didn't land. Normally that's where the audio stops, the phone comes out, and the chapter is over. In Hands-Free mode you just ask — out loud, in your own language. You get an answer in the same voice-driven flow, and the book picks up where it left off.

Ask what a word meant, why a character did that, what you missed while a car went past. Pick one of the suggested questions or ask your own. It works while you're walking, driving, cooking, or lifting — the whole point is that the screen stays dark and the book keeps going.

A hint sized to your level — the book stays as written

When a word or a phrase stops you, the help you get is scaled to where you are. A beginner gets more of the sentence; someone further along gets the one word that was actually in the way. Ask for the whole sentence in your own language when you want it.

Auto mode handles this for you: it adjusts how often support appears, how much translation comes with it, and how fast the narration runs, based on how you're doing in this book. Turn it off and set everything by hand if you'd rather drive.

Sandwich mode is for listening: original, then your language, then the original again. The second pass is usually the one where the sentence lands.
